Itinerary
4-Day Break
- Day 1 – To Ashford, Kent, for a three-night stay. D
- Day 2 – Canterbury and Rochester (included). Today we drive to the city of Rochester where there will be a guided walking tour of this beautiful Kentish city, located in the heart of the ‘Garden of England’. The city features a rich history including a fine Norman Castle, an impressive Cathedral and was an inspiration for Charles Dickens, who lived nearby and based many of his novels in the area. B,D
- Day 3 – The French Coast (included). We travel the short distance down to Dover to join the P&O cross-Channel ferry to Calais (please don’t forget your passport!). The crossing takes about 75 minutes, during which you can relax, do some shopping and watch as the French coast approaches. On arrival in Calais, we take the short trip along the motorway to the old port town of Boulogne, which retains a real old-world character with its cobbled streets and traditional shops and cafés. The town dates from Roman times and was Napoleon’s base as he planned to invade England in the early 19th century. We head to Calais in the late afternoon for our return sailing to Dover and on to Ashford. B,D
- Day 4 – Deal (included). A morning visit to the seaside town and former Cinque port of Deal, before an afternoon departure for home. B
