5-Day Break

  • Day 1 – Travel by Silver Service from a local joining point arriving at our hotel this evening for a four-night stay. D
  • Day 2 – Stirling and the Trossachs (included). We travel through the hills, mountains and lochs of The Trossachs to Stirling, the ancient capital of Scotland. From the castle, the surrounding landscape is a wonder, and is also known as 'Braveheart Country', made famous by Hollywood's interpretation of the life of William Wallace, Scotland's first freedom fighter. B,D
  • Day 3 – Glasgow, Edinburgh and Military Tattoo (included). Free time in Glasgow in the morning, then to Edinburgh where you can walk the Royal Mile, the historically-linked streets that run through the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. There’s also a great choice of pubs, restaurants and tea shops to try when you’re not exploring. In the evening, we take our seats for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Today, with its unique blend of music, ceremony, entertainment and theatre, set against the amazing backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, it’sone of the world’s greatest shows. B
  • Day 4 – Loch Lomond and Inveraray (optional). We see the 'bonnie banks' of Loch Lomond, overlooked by the peak of Ben Lomond. We also visit the beautiful town of Inveraray on the shores of Loch Fyne. The former 'capital of Argyll', Inveraray is one of the most delightful and unusual small towns in Scotland. B,D
  • Day 5 – Gretna Green (included). On our return journey, we call into Gretna Green, a favourite wedding venue of eloping couples since 1745. The area is steeped in the romantic history of young couples running away and being married 'over the anvil' by the blacksmith. In those days, one could not marry before the age of 18 without parental consent. It now has a veritable 'wedding industry' all of its own! Continue our journey home. B
