Your Holiday Itinerary
9-Day Break
- Day 1 – We break up our journey with an overnight stay in northern France.
- Day 2 – We travel south to arrive at our hotel in the Swiss resort of Davos for six nights. B, D
- Day 3 – Morning at leisure. Davos is often home to members of the Royal Family during the winter ski period. Europe’s highest town is also a delight during the summer, being surrounded on all sides by idyllic countryside. Klosters (optional). In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion to the neighbouring town of Klosters, again a favourite with the Royal Family. B, L, D
- Day 4 – Bregenz & Lake Constance (included) with Lake Cruise (optional). Close to the borders of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Bregenz nestles on the shore of Lake Constance, the second largest freshwater lake in Europe. Don’t miss the fine lakeside promenade and St. Martin’s Tower. During our visit, enjoy a cruise (optional) on the lake to Meersburg, whose terraces cascade down the hillside to the water’s edge. B, L, D
- Day 5 – Swiss Glacier Express (optional). A day out to remember as we board the world famous Swiss Glacier Express mid-morning from Davos Station via Chur to Andermatt. Our train has the recently introduced second-class panoramic viewing carriages which have oversized windows extending into the roof to provide a first-class view. The carriages also have air-conditioning and their own sound system with headsets for you to use. You can switch between music and general information on the route. Your journey on the “slowest express in the world” climbs through unforgettable scenery to the summit of the Oberalp Massif. Enjoy time also in Andermatt before returning by coach to our hotel. In order to guarantee your place on the train, this trip must be purchased at the time of booking – £45 per person. B, L, D
- Day 6 – Ticino and Lugano (included). A day out with fantastic scenic views en route as you climb the San Bernardino Pass, then join the motorway through the Italian-speaking district of Switzerland, the Ticino area, to the border town of Lugano, set beside the blue waters of Lake Lugano. Enjoy the ‘chic’ of the town’s piazzas and promenades, and perhaps take a meal by the lakeside or try a funicular ride up Monte Bre for spectacular views over the Alps. B, L, D
- Day 7 – St Moritz (included). A morning excursion through the Inn valley and the Upper Engadin region to the first-class resort of St. Moritz, home in winter to the Cresta Run and famous for its air of elegance. Again, a favourite destination for the rich and famous. B, L, D
- Day 8 – Return north through Germany to Belgium for an overnight stay. B
- Day 9 – We arrive in Calais for our return journey home. B
B=Breakfast L=Lunch D=Dinner
Please Note: The 23rd June, 15th September and 6th October departures will have a small itinerary change. On day 4, the optional lake cruise will now run from Meersburg to Bregenz, rather than Bregenz to Meersberg due to changes in the local seasonal cruise times.
