Discovering Unter den Linden Avenue

Between Brandenburg Gate and the Spree River, the prestigious Unter den Linden presents an overview of Berlin’s history. While walking down the avenue we will encounter the monuments that made Royal and Imperial famous: the Berlin Brandenburg Gate, the Neue Wache, the late 17th-century Baroque-style Arsenal… But we will also pass by the structures built by the 20th century’s greatest architects, for Berlin, once again the capital of a reunited Germany, projects itself into the future.

This visit of the historical centre of Berlin will begin at Schlossplatz square on the site of the 15th century Berlin City Palace, which was demolished during the 1950s to house government buildings of the East German regime such as the Palast der Republik. From here, we will make our way to Alexanderplatz, Berlin with its enormous TV tower – another symbol of the cold war. The Peter and Paul Fortress

Zayatchy Island (Hare Island)-central - About 2 hours

Any visit to Saint Petersburg should begin with the Peter and Paul Fortress, the city’s founding monument. The history of this citadel is therefore central to the history of the city itself. With this audio guide, we’ll explore its fortified walls and gates, the prison, the mint and of course, the Peter and Paul cathedral which is the burial place of the Romanov dynasty.

Vasilievsky Island

Our tour begins at the island’s headland. From that spot we’ll have a marvellous panoramic view of the Neva river and its distributaries, the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Hermitage Palace and the Admiralty. We’ll then explore the old harbour facilities before reaching the palace-lined University Embankment, which will tell us more about the history of the city.
