Your Holiday Itinerary
12-Day Break
- Day 1 – Travel to Belgium for an overnight stay.
- Day 2 – Continue south to Austria for the night. B,D
- Day 3 – We arrive in Krk, Croatia, and stay for seven nights. B,D
- Day 4 – Krk Island Tour (optional). We explore the history and beauty of the largest island of the Adriatic. First we go by boat to the small islet of Kosljun, where we visit the Franciscan monastery, the greatest cultural and museum centre in Croatia. Then, we visit Krk and stroll through the old town, with its ramparts, Frankopan Castle and Cathedral. Later, we visit Vrbnik, most famous for its white wine. We also have the opportunity to taste homemade prosciutto, cheese and wine in a traditional local tavern. B,D
- Day 5 – Rijeka & Opatija (included). Rijeka is the third largest town in Croatia and is the biggest Croatian port. The second part of the day leads us to Opatija, also known as ‘the Croatian Nice’, where you can take a walk along the seaside, ‘lungo mare’, and visit the Botanical Garden. B,D
- Day 6 – Island coastal cruise (optional). A whole day tour by romantic sailing-ship to one of the Kvarner Islands. This trip is a great opportunity to enjoy the sun and bathe in the crystal clear sea. Lunch is served onboard a nd includes a fish dish with home-made wine. B,D
- Day 7 – Day at leisure. B,D
- Day 8 – Zagreb (included). We pay a visit to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, a charming medieval city of exceptional beauty. For centuries, Zagreb was known as a centre of science and culture. Our optional city sightseeing tour (included on Silver Service), with local guide, takes in the highlights of the city, including the Upper and Lower town, the majestic Cathedral, Archbishop’s Palace, St. Mark’s Church and the Opera House. - Day 9 – Biserujka Cave (optional). Ever since the discovery of the cave over 100 years ago, people’s imaginations have been sparked by its secrets. According to a local story, smugglers’ treasure is hidden in the cave. Its rich galleries are filled with numerous stalactites and stalagmites. B,D
- Day 10 – We begin our journey home and travel to the Como area in Italy for an overnight stay. B,D
- Day 11 –We travel to northern France for an overnight stay. B
- Day 12 – We journey to Calais, then return home. B
