Your Holiday Itinerary for 2009

6-Day Break

  • Day 1 – Local departure to Holyhead for the ferry to Ireland and onwards to Tullamore for an overnight stay. D
  • Day 2 – Galway. B,D
  • Excursions & Visits – Galway (included). Music, festivals, horse racing, pubs, restaurants, and, most of all, Galway people, all combine to characterise this atmospheric medieval city of culture. Continue to Westport, where we stay for three nights.
  • Day 3 – Westport and Kylemore Abbey. B,D
  • Excursions & Visits – Westport (included) and Kylemore Abbey (optional). In the morning we spend time in the lovely town of Westport overlooking Clew Bay in the shadow of Croagh Patrick, where Ireland’s saint fasted for forty days and forty nights. Explore the shops and take a stroll along the beautiful tree-lined boulevard, known as the Mall. The town has lost none of its traditional charm. Later you may wish to join our optional excursion as we experience the beauty and tranquility of Kylemore Abbey Estate, set in the heart of the Connemara Mountains. Stroll around the six-acre Victorian walled garden and browse in the craft shop, where some of the delicious home-cooked food can be sampled.
  • Day 4 – Achill Island and Atlantic Drive. B,D
  • Excursions & Visits – Achill Island and Atlantic Drive (included). A day of glorious scenery awaits, as we further explore the rugged and dramatic West Coast. We head north to charming Achill, Ireland’s largest Island. Achill Island is reached from the mainland by road bridge and we follow the spectacular Atlantic Coast Drive, a circular route around the southern tip of the Island overlooking Achill Beg and Clare Island. Have your camera ready!
  • Day 5 – Dublin. B
  • Excursions & Visits – Dublin (included). We reach Dublin late afternoon from Westport. Our optional sightseeing tour covers both the north and south part of the capital and takes in the beautiful architecture of Trinity College, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, The National Art Gallery and the Four Courts.
  • Day 6 – To Holyhead then return home. B

We continue to the colourful town of Clifden, one of Ireland’s leading holiday resorts. Time here for refreshments in one of the numerous teashops, pubs or restaurants. B,D
