Rouen and the Seaside Towns of Normandy
4 days from £199
From quaint old towns, to sleepy countryside and seaside landscapes, Normandy has it all
Itinerary
4-Day Break
- Day 1 – To Rouen for a three-night stay.
- Day 2 – Rouen (included). A free day to enjoy Rouen. Our hotel is within walking distance of the old city centre with its variety of attractions and smart shops. See the Notre Dame cathedral with its splendid Butter Tower, immortalised in paintings by Claude Monet. Take a stroll to admire the famous Gros Horloge, a huge astronomical clock dating back to the 16th century and, for modern architecture, in the centre of the Old Market Square stands the church of St. Joan of Arc, whose design represents the pyre on which Joan perished in 1431. There are also fine half-timbered buildings to be admired in the Old Town, which also boasts a variety of first class restaurants and eateries. B
- Day 3 – Honfleur, Étretat and Fécamp (included). A great day out to the Normandy coastline. We travel first to the charming town of Honfleur on the southern bank of the Seine estuary, renowned for its beautiful harbour area, characterised by houses with slatecovered frontages represented on canvas by the artist Monet. Explore the town and take some photos, then we cross the River Seine via the impressive Pont de Normandie to visit the seaside town of Étretat, famous for its huge chalk cliffs jutting out into the sea and forming a dramatic natural arch. We end the day at historic Fécamp, home to the Abbey of the Bénédictine monks who created the famous Bénédictine herbal liqueur. We visit the Bénédictine Palace where the liqueur is made before returning to our hotel in Rouen. B
- Day 3 – Return home via Calais. B
