9-Day Break

July 6 2013 departure

• Day 1 – Local departure by coach then to northern France for an overnight stay.
• Day 2 – Head south through France to our overnight hotel in the Lyon area. B,D
• Day 3 – Lyon. Full day in the historic city of Lyon, its Old Town is blessed with Renaissance architecture and listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Explore the alleyways, courtyards and the Traboules passageways. We board our Croisi Europe ship late afternoon for our four-night cruise and sail around 5.00pm. Meet the crew and enjoy a welcome cocktail before dinner, followed by an evening of entertainment. We sail through the night. B,D
• Day 4 –  Arles, The Camargue.  This morning enjoy breakfast whilst cruising through the landscapes of the south of France past Valence, Montelimar and through the great lock in Bollène, one of the engineering masterpieces of the 1950’s, rising to nearly 60 feet. Lunch will be served onboard, before we arrive at Arles. This afternoon, join our included sightseeing drive to the Camargue, a huge plain famous for its seas and marshlands. We also visit the village of Saintes Maries de la Mer with its mighty church and situated where the Rhone meets the Mediterranean. We return to Arles where you can join an included, guided walking tour of the city, which is virtually an open-air museum, before enjoying dinner onboard our cruise ship. We remain moored overnight at Arles. B,L,D
• Day 5 – Avignon - Viviers, The Ardeche Gorge.  Our ship departs Arles early morning for Avignon.Explore Avignon independently or join our optional tour of the ‘City of Popes’ with entrance to Palais des Papes, former 14th century residence of the Popes. At lunchtime, we sail for Roquemaure. Later, enjoy our optional excursion by coach travelling through ,enjoying spectacular views. We rejoin the ship in Saint-Etienne-des-Sorts and cruise to Viviers. B,L,D
• Day 6 – Viviers – Tain l’Hermitage, The Vercors.  Morning cruising towards La Voulte for lunch, then continue north to Tain l’Hermitage. This evening, we enjoy a gala dinner onboard ship as we sail overnight towards Lyon. B,L,D
• Day 7 – Disembark in Lyon then head by coach to the Paris area for a two-night stay. This evening, enjoy our optional ‘Paris By Night’  excursion seeing the city at its illuminated best. B
• Day 8 – Paris. Included visit to Paris. Why not join our optional, guided sightseeing tour, which takes in the famous sights? For a different view of the city, join our optional River Seine cruise. We return to our hotel late afternoon. Tonight, you can join an optional visit into the Latin Quarter where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere and perhaps enjoy dinner. B
• Day 9 – Return home, via Calais. B

August 31 2013 departure

This holiday follows the same cruise itinerary as the July 6 departure but operates in reverse order, visiting Paris at the beginning of the holiday rather than the end.

• Day 2 – Paris. Included visit to Paris. Why not join our optional, guided sightseeing tour, which takes in the famous sights? For a different view of the city, join our optional River Seine cruise.
