Your Holiday Itinerary
4-Day Break
- Day 1 – We arrive at our hotel in Ostend for a three or four-night stay. D
- Day 2 – Ypres (optional). Take a stroll around the beautiful town of Ypres. See the market square, overlooked by the dominating medieval Cloth Hall with its impressive 70-metre-high Belfry, or perhaps visit the most important war memorial in Ypres, the Menin Gate. We return to Ostend for an afternoon at leisure in the indisputable 'Queen' of Belgium's seaside resorts. The city of Ostend gained its resort-town popularity from two Belgian kings, Leopold I and II, who faithfully spent every summer here. Be sure to make the most of your visit with a stroll along the promenade where you can admire the Royal monuments. B,D
- Day 3 – Bruges (included) and Sluis(optional, included on Silver Service). Bruges is Europe's best-preserved medieval city, and is Belgium's most visited town. It is a pleasant town to explore on foot, with its cannals, meandering cobbled lanes and hidden medieval almshouses. Stunning buildings grace the town, including the Gothic clock, town hall and medieval belfry that dominate the main square. From Bruges you have the opportunity to join an afternoon excursion to the fortified town of Sluis (optional, included on Silver Service), in the rural province of Zeeland, Holland. This fortified town is popular for both shopping and dining. Discover the rich architecture, elegant shops and cultural heritage, climb Holland's only bell tower for a spectacular view of the picturesque surrounding countryside, visit the 'De Brak' Windmill - originally built as a fortress mill and the first made of stone in the area, or take a walk along the old city ramparts. B,D
- Day 4 – Homeward bound via Calais. B
5-Day Break
- Day 1 - 3 – Same as 4-Day break outlined above.
- Day 4 – Ghent (included). Affectionately known as the 'flower capital of Belgium', this wonderful medieval cobbled Flemish town, with its canals, has a wealth of stunning architecture including the three impressive towers of St. Nicholas Church, the Belfry and the magnificent St. Baaf's Cathedral, containing the world-famous fifteenth century painting, the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, by Jan van Eyck. Why not join our optional guided walking sightseeing tour, to discover more. We return to Ostend where the afternoon is left free for you to explore. B,D
