5-Day Break
- Day 1 – Local departure then travel to Vianden for a 4-night stay.
- Day 2– Vianden (included). Clervaux (optional). Spend the day in the town of Vianden, in a superb location on the banks of the River Our, near the border with Germany. Enjoy an included introductory sightseeing tour with local guide so that you can get your bearings, before exploring on your own. A visit to the medieval castle which towers above the old town is a must. It is one of the largest and most beautiful feudal residences of the Romanesque and Gothic periods in Europe. In the afternoon, join an optional scenic drive north along the Our Valley, which forms a natural border with Germany to the attractive old town of Clervaux. B
- Day 3 – Trier and Little Switzerland (optional). Scenery abounds today as we travel through the picturesque area known as ‘Little Switzerland’ to cross the German border for a visit to the old Roman town of Trier. See the famous Porta Nigra, the finest preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps, the Roman Catholic cathedral, or explore the shops. From Trier we return through Echternach, a picturesque town on the River Sauer, still surrounded by its medieval walls with towers. B 49.6,6.116667
- Day 4 – Luxembourg City (included). A day to Luxembourg City, the capital of the country. The city is surrounded by magnificent historical fortifications and is classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO. On arrival we can join an optional classic sightseeing tour by coach including a visit to the Old Town area, the ruins of the fortifications, the European Centre and the banking district. B
- Day 5 – To Calais then return home. B
