Itinerary

9-Day Break

  • Day 1 – By coach from a local joining point or by Eurostar to Paris for an overnight stay.D
  • Day 2 – TGV from Paris to Munich,then by coach to Niederau in the Austrian Tirol for a 3-night stay. B,D
  • Day 3 – Ziller Valley Railway and Mayrhofen (included). Sit back and relax as an old steam locomotive takes you through the panoramic Ziller Valley. In operation since 1902, the Zillertal is one of Austria’s most famous narrow railways. On arrival, you will have time atleisure in the picturesque town of Mayrhofen, which nestles at the end of the Ziller Valley. B,D
  • Day 4 – Lake Achensee and the Achenseebahn (optional). By coach along the scenic Alpenstrasse to the shore of the lovely Lake Achensee. Surrounded by pine-clad slopes, you will have time at leisure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. You can also take an optional cruise on the serene waters of the lake, and a ride on the narrow gauge steam rack and pinion railway from Seespitz to Jenbach, which offers amazing views of the area.B,D
  • Day 5 – By scheduled train from Austria to Switzerland and transfer to Leysin in the Vaudoise Alps above Lake Geneva for a 3-night stay. B,D
  • Day 6 – Golden Pass Railway and Geneva (included). Join our included ride on the magnificent Golden Pass railway. Beginning our journey in Zweisimmen, we pass by the famous resorts of Gstaad and Château d’Oex. As we approach Montreux, the spectacular lake region begins to unfold below, revealing stunning views of the popular ‘Swiss Riviera’. The rest of the day is free in Geneva, where you can join an optional sightseeing tour.B,D
  • Day 7 – Zermatt (included) and Gornergrat Railway (optional). The internationally- renowned resort of Zermatt is spectacularly set below Matterhorn. Enjoy a fantastic optional on the Gornergrat Rack Railway, which runs up the mountain above Zermatt, Switzerland's highest open-air train at 3089 metres high, Gornergrat, from where, weather permitting, there are superb views of the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa, the ‘pink mountain’.B,D
  • Day 8 – Transfer to Lausanne for the TGV to Paris.B
  • Day 9 – Return home by coach or Eurostar.B

Please note that taxi transfers between Gare du Nord Eurostar station and your hotel in Paris are extra and cost around €30 each way. For 2008, Eurostar will be departing from St. Pancras, their new terminal in London
