Your Holiday Itinerary

9-Day Break

  • Day 1 – We break up our journey with an overnight stay in Belgium.
  • Day 2 – We arrive at our hotel in Niederau for a six-night stay. B,D
  • Day 3 – Ziller Valley Railway AND Mayrhofen (included). Sit back and relax as an old steam locomotive takes us on an historic journey through the panoramic Ziller Valley, from Fugen to the famous resort town of Mayrhofen. The Zillertal is one of Austria's most famous narrow railways; it has been in operation since 1902. B,D
  • Day 4 – St. Wolfgang and the Schafberg Railway (optional). Austria's lake district is breathtaking and today we visit St. Gilgen, where you can stroll along the lakeside, explore the shops or relax in one of the cafés. We then cruise to St. Wolfgang, where we board the cog railway and ascend the Schafberg Mountain for some spectacular photographic opportunities! B,D
  • Day 5 – Innsbruck and Vipiteno (optional). Innsbruck came to prominence under the rule of the Habsburgs in the 15th century when the Emperor Maximilian based his imperial court here. Many fine regal buildings adorn the city, including the famous Golden Roof and the Hofburg Palace. We also see the Berg Isel Olympic ski jump, from where there are wonderful views overlooking the city and the Karwendel mountains. Later, we travel over the Brenner Pass to the medieval village of Vipiteno in the Italian Süd Tirol. Enjoy time at leisure to explore and shop for bargains, including wine and leather goods. B,D
  • Day 6 – Pinzgau Train and Kitzbühel (included). We travel to Zell am See to board the Pinzgau Train for a scenic ride along the River Salzach in the Hohe Tauern National Park to Mittersill, before we continue by coach to Kitzbühel. The Pinzgau Railway is a narrow-gauge railway which has been around since 1898, and is very popular among narrow-gauge enthusiasts. Our journey will be by diesel rail-car, except during July and August, when a steam train will be in operation. Then enjoy free time to explore the popular resort of Kitzbühel before rejoining our coach to return to our hotel. B,D
  • Day 7 – Lake Achensee (optional, included on Silver Service). Enjoy a breathtaking scenic drive along the Alpenstrasse to Lake Achensee, the largest lake in the Austrian Tirol.
