Your Holiday Itinerary
8-Day Break
- Day 1 – Local departure then onwards through the night towards Austria.
- Day 2 – Morning arrival in the Austrian Tyrol for a five night stay. D
- Day 3 – Alpbach and Rattenberg (included) Some time at leisure in the morning, then an excursion into the beautiful alpine countryside of the Tyrol. We visit the mountain village of Alpbach, which has been voted “Austria’s most beautiful village” as well as “Europe’s most beautiful flower village”. Picturesquely situated on a sunny plateau 1000 metres above sea level, Alpbach makes a picture postcard with geraniums and other flowers adorning the window boxes in summer, so have your camera ready. From Alpbach we descend to the Inn Valley to the smallest town in Austria, Rattenberg, famous for its glass blowing industry and quaint souvenir shops. B,D
- Day 4 – Krimml Falls and Kitzbühel (optional) Where the Krimml River thunders down over 1000 feet in three mighty stages, high up over the Gerlos Pass and Ziller Valley, are the spectacular Krimml Waterfalls, which give views many consider to be unsurpassed throughout Europe. This is the first, exciting stop on today’s optional excursion, before we move along the Salzach Valley and over the Thurn Pass to complete a marvellous scenic alpine round trip which ends in the internationally renowned resort of the rich and famous, Kitzbühel, where we have some free time. B,D
- Day 5 – Swarovski Crystal World and Innsbruck (optional) We travel to the small town of Wattens in the Inn valley to visit the Swarovski Crystal World. Swarovski is considered by many to be the finest lead crystal made today. See the exhibition and perhaps treat yourself and buy some gifts. From Wattens we continue to Innsbruck, the “Capital of the Tyrol”. Innsbruck came into prominence in the 15th century, when the Emperor Maximilian based his court here. Many fine buildings are a testimony to the city’s regal past, including the famous Golden Roof and the Hofburg Palace, whilst Maria Theresien Strasse is also a must. B,D
