Your Holiday Itinerary

9-Day Break

  • Day 1 – To Belgium for an overnight stay.
  • Day 2 – To Freistadt, Austria, for a 6-night stay. B,D
  • Day 3 – Linz (included). By coach to the city of Linz for a reception at the town hall followed by a guided tour of the city highlights and free time.B,D
  • Day 4 – Vienna (included). By coach to Vienna for a full-day visit. Our optional guided sightseeing tour (included on SILVER SERVICE) introduces the principal sights of the city, including the Hofburg Palace, Parliament building, Opera House, National Theatre and the City Hall. We pass the famous Prater Wheel, before returning to the centre for free time. B,D
  • Day 5 – Passau with guided sightseeing and Cruise (included). By coach to Schlögen, where we board the ‘MFS Kaiserin Elisabeth’ and begin our cruise upstream to the border town of Passau. Considered to be one of the most spectacular settings in Germany, Passau’s magnificent St. Stephen’s Cathedral is certainly worth a visit, being home to the world’s largest organ. Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour, before rejoining our coach to Engelhartszell, where we board our ship. We cruise downstream to Obermühl, where we enjoy a brass band, before rejoining our ship for a four-course dinner as we cruise all the way to Linz, then back to our hotel by coach. B,D
  • Day 6 – Melk, Wachau and Cruise (included). We start with a cruise from Linz, downstream towards the Abbey of Melk, one of the most famous monastic houses of Austria. We sail along the most scenic part of the Danube Valley and through the beautiful wine-producing region of the Wachau. We visit the Gothic town of Grein for a sparkling reception and piano concert. We continue by ship to Durnstein and the ruins of Kunringer Castle, where Richard the Lionheart was reputedly held prisoner. Here we enjoy coffee and cake onboard, before returning by coach to our hotel for dinner. B,D
  • Day 7 – Cesky Krumlov (optional). By coach into the Czech Republic, to the medieval town of Cesky Krumlov, one of the most beautiful towns of southern Bohemia, with its imposing 13th-century castle. The rich Renaissance architecture still reflects the influence of the nobility who lived here in the 14th century, bringing with them great affluence, commerce and culture. Guided Walk (included). On Friday, enjoy a walk with local guide through the historic town of Freistadt. B,D
  • Day 8 – We travel to Belgium for the night. B
  • Day 9 – We arrive in Calais for return journey home. B
