16-Day Break
- Day 1 – Overnight in northern France.
- Day 2 – South through France to the Lake Como area.B,D
- Day 3 – To Florence (included) We visit this famed Renaissance city where you’ll have free time to explore.B,D
- Day 4 – Rome (included). Free time to explore alone or join our optional guided sightseeing tour by coach and on foot, which includes the Colosseum and St. Peter’s Square.B,D
- Day 5 – To the foot of Italy to cross to ‘little’ but beautiful Sicily and to our resort on one of the most scenic coasts in Italy for seven nights.B,D
- Day 6 – Mount Etna and Taormina (included). Mount Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe at 3350 metres. Our coach takes us to within 1900 metres and, if the weather is good, you can visit the summit by local bus (optional), before you return to the town of Taormina for sightseeing.B,D
- Day 7 – Stromboli (optional). Enjoy a boat ride from Milazzo to the island of Panarea, where you can go swimming at Zimmari Beach. Then we travel to the port of San Pietro, from where you can walk or, if you wish, take a local taxi to the village for some dinner and another swim! In the evening the boat leaves for the island of Stromboli to view the mighty volcano at night – the best time to see the mountain’s fiery explosions. We watch from offshore, before returning by sea to Milazzo, with a light dinner of pasta, wine and water included on board.B,D
- Day 8 – Syracuse (included). Drive to what is probably Sicily’s most beautiful city, once the most powerful of all Mediterranean cities, and home of the famous Archimedes. Our guide will show us the main highlights.B,D
- Day 9 – Palermo (optional). Encircled by mountains and the sea, Palermo is a city steeped in history. The cultural heart of the city beats in the old historical centre.B,D
- Day 10 – Catania (optional). Situated in one of Sicily’s most fertile areas between the Ionian Sea and the slopes of Mount Etna, Catania is outstanding for the production of citrus fruits, whilst the surrounding area is rich in farming. Visit the local fish market and stunning City Hall and Cathedral.B,D
- Day 11 – Day at leisure for souvenir shopping.B,D
- Day 12 – Return to Italy to Fiuggi, near Rome, for an overnight stay.B,D
- Day 13 – Pisa (included). See the famous leaning tower and enjoy the history on our optional guided tour. Then to Montecatini, Tuscany for an overnight stay.B,D
- Day 14 – North to the Austrian Tirol for one night.B,D
- Day 15 – To Belgium for an overnight stay.B
- Day 16 – To Calais then return home.B
