A wonderful new tour, based in the popular resort of Roses on the Costa Brava. We feature a number of rail journeys around the Pyrenees, with the highlight being the Yellow Train of the Pyrenees, one of the great railway journeys of the world where the track winds through leafy forests, past gushing streams and upwards to the mountain village of Font Romeu.

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to our overnight hotel in the Paris area.

We continue south through France and into Spain, to reach the resort of Roses for six nights.

    • Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Enjoy a morning at leisure, exploring the resort of Roses. This afternoon we include a trip on the Roses Express (little town train). This delightful little road train is pulled by an ornate tractor and climbs into the hills of the Cap de Creus National Park to give you spectacular panoramic views across the Bay of Roses.

    • Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Today we spend a day in France with our local guide. We head first to the medieval walled city of Thuir, which nestles at the foot of the Pyrenees. Enjoy a local wine tasting before we head to Villefranche, where it’s all aboard the Yellow Train for an unforgettable journey through the Pyrenees. We travel up the Tet Valley, across viaducts and bridges and through forests and tunnels, scaling dramatic Pyrenean landscapes. We leave the train in the small mountain village of Font Romeu and rejoin our coach for the journey back to Roses.

    • Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Included guided excursion on the Rack Railway up to the Sanctuary of Nuria. Located in the Eastern Pyrenees, the mountain resort of Vall de Nuria, sits high above the Ribes Valley. Breathtaking scenery awaits as we climb more than 100 metres over the 12 kilometre journey.

    • Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Included guided excursion, as we head back into France, and to Rivesaltes, where we join the Train du pays Cathere et du Fenouillèdes (also known as the Red Train). Part of this historic railway has been in operation since 1901, and we journey through vineyards into the verdant heart of the French Pyrenees – from the mountains to the sea – to the pretty town of Axat. Enjoy some free time here before we head back to Roses by coach.

    • Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Enjoy a day at leisure to enjoy charming Roses. Relax on the beach, spend time shopping, visit the 16th century Citadel or perhaps enjoy a boat trip along the coastline.

    • Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

We leave Roses and head north through France to our overnight hotel on the outskirts of Paris.
