Enjoy a relaxing holiday watching stunning scenery pass you by as you travel between incredible destinations such as Cologne, Rüdesheim, Heidelberg and Frankfurt allowing you time to explore these delightful towns and cities from land as well as the wonderful waterways.

Please note for navigational and passenger safety, the cruise company and the captain reserve the right to modify the cruise itinerary if necessary. Sailing times are dependant on how busy the numerous locks are. At some ports of call, a degree of walking will be involved to join our coach. Due to limited docking facilities, it may be necessary to dock alongside another ship to access the shore.

This morning, we cruise down the Rhine to reach Koblenz, where we join the Moselle. We arrive in Winningen early this afternoon. Join our optional excursion by coach to Cochem, 'the pearl of the Moselle', a picturesque town spanning both sides of the river, with narrow streets and twisting alleyways lined with half-timbered houses.

We rejoin the Rhine and enjoy a leisurely day cruising along this majestic river. Take in the passing scenery of fairy tale castles, steep vineyards, pretty villages. We cruise through the Rhine Gorge and past the famous Loreley Rock, then arriving in Rüdesheim later this afternoon. In Rüdesheim you can visit the famous Drosselgasse and enjoy a beer or a glass of the local wine in one of the many bars and taverns. Why not join our optional ‘Highlights of Rüdesheim’ excursion where we begin by boarding the ‘Winzer Express’ road train, which takes us on the short journey to the Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum. The museum is home to one of the largest collections of self-playing mechanical musical instruments in the world and our visit provides a spectacle of fascination. You will see the various instruments and have the chance to listen too many of the instruments and fairground organs play their different tunes.

Leaving Rüdesheim early this morning, we arrive this afternoon in Heidelberg. The city of Heidelberg enjoys a beautiful location on the banks of the River Neckar. It is often referred to as the ‘Romantic Town’ on account of its castle ruins and red sandstone buildings, which dominate the city. Heidelberg castle has been described as the most beautiful castle ruin of Germany, and enjoys a prominent location overlooking the town and from where the views across Heidelberg and the Neckar are astounding.

We continue our cruise along the Main River to Frankfurt. Known as 'Main-hattan' due to its incredible skyline of skyscrapers, Frankfurt also boasts an historic old quarter, home to one of the most beautiful town halls in Germany. After shopping and sightseeing, spend time on the riverside, watching the passing boats. Frankfurt has over 30 museums covering films, art, world cultures, sculptures and architecture so there is always something interesting to go and see. Frankfurt is also home to two major botanical gardens Palmengarten which is located on the westend district with over 22 hectares and Botanischer Garten de Goethe-Universitat - the university garden with over 5000 species.

We disembark this morning and spend time in Cologne. Here you can enjoy some free time to explore the many shops and boutiques. Cologne cathedral, famous around the world, dominates the panorama of the city and is still today the second highest building in Cologne after the telecommunications tower. Maybe take time to visit the famous Gothic Cathedral, with its most celebrated work the Sarcophagus of the Magi thought to hold the remains of the three wise men. Later, we travel on to Belgium for an overnight stay.
