Four Countries New Year & the Swiss Glacier Express

What our previous travellers have to say about this tour

My husband and I went on the Four Countries tour, this was our third Christmas/New Year tour with Leger. We had an amazing time and would recommend this tour. Travelling through Belgium, France, Germany and Switzerland, on route to Feldkirch our drivers, Steve and Alan passed on lots of interesting information about the places we were travelling through.

As we were getting nearer to Austria it started to snow very heavily and delayed us getting to the Hotel Weisses Kruez. The hotel staff agreed to stay on until we arrived and they gave us a wonderful meal and a warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were always friendly.

On New Years Eve we were supposed to go to Fussen in Bavaria but due to the snow, the drivers took advice that the mountain passes would be too risky to drive on, so instead they took us into the town of Feldkirch. Feldkirch is a medieval city bordering
Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein and we spent an interesting two hours there.

New Years Eve was a great night, the five course meal was exceptional and a duet played music for us to dance to or just to sit and enjoy. The hotel staff even showed us an old tradition, Bleigieben (lead pouring). A small amount of lead is heated on a tablespoon and then thrown into a bath of cold water, the resulting pattern is then interpreted to predict the coming year. This caused huge amounts of fun and laughter.

One of the many highlights for us was the Swiss Glacier Express. It was spectacular with all the snow and the mountains with all the skiers. Later in the day we were able to go up in one of the longest ski lifts where we watched the skiers while we sat back with a coffee. We also loved Lech and St Anton, which are optional excursions and well worth the money. The horse and carriage ride took us through some amazing scenery; beautiful, tall pine trees covered in snow and winding roads.

We always choose Silver Service, as you get more leg room plus there is a lounge area at the back of the coach where you can socialise and get to know people. You never feel lonely, as there is always someone to chat too. We have made some good friends on all our trips and every trip has been highly memorable.

The little extra touches provided by the drivers such as Christmas cards and mince pies put on our seats, were great. On board you also have a choice of drinks from tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soup and alcoholic drinks, all for a small cost.
