What our previous travellers have to say about this tour

Retired teacher Nick Male felt inspired to tell fellow Leger travellers about his holiday by lovely Lake Como. The Hertfordshire holidaymaker enjoyed six days with his friends- It was his first ever visit to Italy.

Says Nick:-

“Both our hotels, the Ibis in Rheims and the Britannia were superb.  The food was great and the value unbeatable. We had a wide - ranging choice, accompanied by excellent wines , which perfectly complimented the various dishes.

Our excursions to Milan, Lake Maggiore and the Bernina Railway were the highlights of a lovely holiday. Breath-taking scenery and invigorating fresh air provided memories which will last a lifetime.

Above all I want to thank our peerless drivers Simon and Lee for all they did for us. Their unfailing good humour produced a great atmosphere on our coach and nothing was too much trouble for them. One of my travelling companions has mobility problems and she really appreciated their care and consideration.

I have already booked to go to Greece next year.

No wonder Leger is a leader in its field.

You richly deserve your reputation."

"the Leger team have got the balance of scenery and culture right creating many memories to look back on while we plan our next holiday."

We have travelled many times with Leger Silver Service, from the North Cape in Norway down to southern Italy, So, with an early start leaving home in the snow we looked forward to our holiday in warmer Italy.

After a smooth interchange at Stop 24, we swiftly passed through the Channel tunnel to our overnight stay at Reims and then through scenic Switzerland to our hotel on the shores of Lake Como.

The following morning we looked out of our bedroom window across the lake to the beautiful village of Bellagio and the snow capped mountains beyond.

With the temperature in the 20’s, the Palazzo Borromeo, on Isola Bella, with its impressive rooms and wonderful gardens are not to be missed. The photogenic peacock displayed its tail when anyone raised a camera. Visiting the lakeside towns of Como and Lugano was the opportunity to relax, stroll along the narrow streets or along the lakeside and enjoy a delicious ice-cream while taking in the scenery.

The next day we headed up to the snow capped mountains and frozen lakes surrounding St. Moritz to travel on the Bernina Railway, the highest crossing of the Alps. Heads turned and numerous photos taken as we made our way through the spectacular landscapes around the circular viaduct down to Tirano.

The city of Milan raised standards to another level. The stunning La Scala Opera House, the elegant Galleria shopping arcade and the impressive Cathedral all made this a memorable visit.
Our last day was a relaxing cruise on Lake Como visiting villas, strolling around the picturesque village of Bellagio and the magnificent gardens of the Villa Carlotta.

Too soon it was time to start our journey home. Throughout the holiday everyone was impressed with our skilful crew, Linda and Jeff as they negotiated the narrow roads around the lakes, the twists and turns of the mountain passes and the city roads as we sat back enjoying the scenery, a movie and relaxed with a drink or enjoyed the company of our fellow travellers in the lounge. Once again the Leger team have got the balance of scenery and culture right creating many memories to look back on while we plan our next holiday.

Italy here we come!!

My twin sister and I have had several holidays with Leger but this was our first trip to Italy and as always, we were not disappointed with our stay at Lake Como.

Our first trip took us to Stresa and Lake Maggiore where we enjoyed a boat trip to see the Borromean Islands. We had some free time in Stresa where we enjoyed the lakeside walks and gardens, that's me,"Gill", posing against the wall of the promenade with the glistening Lake Maggiore in the background.

Our hotel overlooked Lake Como and what a sight that was. It was absolute bliss to wake up in the morning and see the snow topped mountains across the lake from our balcony. We decided to forfeit the trip to Milan, "yes we really did", preferring to spend the day walking along the shores of Lake Como from our hotel, basking in the sunshine and clear blue skies. Our walk took such a long time as we had to keep stopping to take in the outstanding scenery and of course pose for more photos. The gardens were so pretty and looked stunning, especially against the clear blue sky. Eventually we did an about turn and headed back to our hotel for lunch.

After lunch we decided to get on the ferry, which was about 50 metres away from our hotel, over to Bellagio. It was only a 15 minute crossing, we could actually see Bellagio from our hotel. It was such a pretty, quaint place, with winding narrow streets. We sat quite for some time just taking in the views back across the lake towards our hotel. The weather had been perfect, our day had been perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed "our time" exploring the wonderful lakeside walks from our hotel.

We entered into a different climate on our trip to St Moritz and the Bernina Railway journey thorough the Swiss Alps. Thermals, fleeces, gloves and scarves were very much the order of the day! The views across the Alps were breath-taking and our cameras were very much to hand throughout the journey.

Sadly our holiday came to an end but wonderful memories of our holiday together at Lake Como will always remain with us.
But before I end, on behalf of myself and my sister, we would like to say a big thank you to our drivers, Dave and Simon, who made us feel so comfortable and safe throughout our journey and also to the lovely friendly people we met on our coach.
