The Mountains of Mourne and the Giant’s Causeway

What our previous travellers have to say about this tour

"Combined with a milestone birthday and a love of landscape photography, this holiday was a ‘must do’"

The Giant’s Causeway and Mountains of Mourne were two iconic sights of Northern Ireland that we had always wanted to see; combined with a milestone birthday and a love of landscape photography, this holiday was a ‘must do’.

From an on time pick up by the transfer coach and the smooth changeover to the Silver Service coach at Holyhead, a ‘millpond’ ferry crossing to Dublin and pleasant meander through the Irish countryside to the Hillgrove Hotel in Monaghan, we could not have asked for a better start to the holiday and the weather remained on our side for most of the week too.

Leger Silver Service is an excellent way to travel; the coach was clean and comfortable and the crew - Sandra and Pete - were excellent and their professionalism and attention to detail was superb and helped to make the holiday such a success. The additional legroom is welcome when you are over 6 foot tall and have a disability and the lounge area at the rear is excellent for meeting your fellow travellers. The Hillgrove Hotel is a lovely hotel, the food excellent and in a lovely setting with friendly staff and excellent facilities. The restaurant staff were very obliging in arranging a birthday surprise and for sorting alternative menu choices due to food allergy and Mike on reception was very knowledgeable and helped plan our ‘day off’ in Monaghan.

The Mountains of Mourne and Giants Causeway are truly spectacular, did not disappoint and were the definite highlights of the trip. The guided tours of Derry and Dublin provided an excellent insight into two fascinating cities and Eugene and Mary, the respective guides, certainly knew their facts. Having grown up in the seventies, it was very poignant to see how Derry has moved on from the segregation and atrocities of ‘the troubles’. Dublin is a beautiful cosmopolitan city with Trinity College, St Patrick’s Cathedral and the River Liffey providing the highlights. The Aspect Hotel is on the outskirts of Dublin and was clean and comfortable for our last night’s stay prior to the return ferry crossing to Holyhead.

Having optional excursions is also beneficial, as it gave us the ability to take a day out for a quiet birthday celebration and some quality time in Monaghan. This was our first holiday with Leger and will not be the last; indeed we have already booked for Andorra later in the year and we are so looking forward to it now.
Thank you Leger for giving us a holiday with a difference!
