Picturebook Italy

What our previous travellers have to say about this tour

"Lots of holiday highlights, loved everything but Capri was the winner!"

We chose this tour as my sister wanted to see Venice and I fancied Capri and Sorrento, so we compromised and did both. We went to some amazing places starting with Lake Garda, visiting three towns all were lovely, and we also had a lake cruise with a speed boat ride.

The next day we went to Venice, which was a delight. Beautiful buildings, we did a gondola ride and a lagoon cruise. We then went to Siena, a lovely old town, sitting in Piazza de Campo for lunch was lovely.

The next day started at 6am on the coach for Sorrento/Isle of Capri, what we saw of Sorrento looked lovely but Capri was amazing! A beautiful place with lots to see and do, we ended the day with a shrt cruise around the island-fabulous, and all made so interesting by our tour guide Luca.

On the Sunday we went to Rome-another lovely city with lots of history. We then went to Florence which is very beautiful but very busy. We visited Piazza Michelangelo, the Dumo and Ponte Vecchio-amazing!

On day 9 we went to Pisa, the tower and surrounding buildings were splendid, we had a very god tour guide and the town was very quiet and beautiful. We visited the old botanic gardens and then went onto Lake Maggiore.

We had a brilliant room with a balcony and views over the lake to Switzerland. Final day to Isola Bella one of the Barromean Islands and we finished the day in Stresa, one of our favourite places.

Lots of holiday highlights, loved everything but Capri was the winner!

Brilliant itinerary, we went on every excursion-why travel all that way and not?

If you choose this tour be prepared for lots of travel, walking and early mornings but it’s totally worth it. We had a great group of people on our coach and had a lot of fun on route. The drivers were superb that kept the coach immaculate inside and out, the seats were comfy with pleanty of leg room, so full marks to Steve and Anthony. They looked after us really well, they were helpful, funny and made us feel secure.

I have been with Leger four times now and they are very professional with slick operation-I will be back soon.
Fabulous holiday, thank you!

"I have been traveling in Europe and the UK about 5 times a year for the last 15 years with various tour companies and this tour was the best by far!"

We have just come back from your picture book Italy tour and I do not know how to start to tell you how good it was. I have been traveling in Europe and the UK about 5 times a year for the last 15 years with various tour companies and this tour was the best by far!

It was 1st class from day one. Whenever I get back from a tour I always e-mail the tour company as to whether it was good bad or indifferent (I nearly always have something to complain about). However, this time there was only praise all the way, even everyone on the coach was so friendly, we were like a little family and we have made some really good friends.

Our Couriers/drivers where Sandra and Pete and they could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I know from experience that courier/drivers can spoil your holiday (I have had some bad ones in the past) but only once before have I had a perfect one, so well done to them and it was very much appreciated by me and my granddaughter. I really did not want to come home, we hope that we can have them again on any other holidays that we book with you.

Best wishes to all your fantastic team for putting this tour together. Keep up the good work.

Mrs Cooper (with nothing to complain about)

"For anyone who wants to see Italy, this is one to be highly recommended"

We have just come back from the Silver Service Picturebook Italy tour and just wanted to say what a fabulous time we had. My husband, his brother and sister-in-law and I are so grateful to Leger for another well-organised, superb tour. This was our fifth tour with Leger and already we have booked Paris for next year.

Here are some of our highlights…

On day one, we were picked up from home and taken to meet the transfer coach.  This was the start of our holiday.  We chose this holiday for the culture and the sights.  We were not to be disappointed.

We started with a stay on Lake Garda and day three saw us doing a boat trip around the lake to visit some of the pretty lakeside towns.  Day four saw us going to Venice.  Although we had visited Venice before we were still thrilled by the beauty of the city.  We also went on the optional cruise around the lagoon-so beautiful.

From Lake Garda we went down to Sienna and then on for a three night stay in Rome.  On day six we did the excursion to the Isle of Capri. What a beautiful island. A trip round the island by boat was an an extra bonus.

Day seven was to be the highlight of our tour.  The visit to Rome was just incredible.  St Peter's Square had an atmosphere that could not be described and when the Pope appeared to give his blessing at midday the crowd were enthralled.  After all the beauty of the square we joined the optional sightseeing tour to see some more of Rome.  The Colosseum was another unbelievable sight.

Day eight was the trip to Florence where we were taken up to the hills behind the city for a view that that can only be described as magnificent.  We then came back into the city for a walking tour to see the major sights.  Another beautiful city.

Day nine saw us going to Pisa.  The leaning tower was breath taking.  We were given time to go up the Tower but we decided it was best left to the younger generation.  A walking tour of the sights of Pisa was well worth doing and the River Arno with its pretty houses is worth the extra walk.

From Pisa we went on to Lake Maggiore and day ten was spent on the picturesque Isola Bella with time to roam around the house and the landscaped gardens.

For anyone who wants to see Italy, this is one to be highly recommended.  Peter and Sandra, our couriers and drivers, could not have been more helpful.  Nothing was too much trouble for them, their cheerfulness and sense of fun were a joy.  We cannot praise them enough.  I hope that at sometime in the not too distant future we will be able to do another tour with them.

Once again, I would like to say a huge thank you to Leger for an excellent and well organised tour and also a big thank you to all the other travellers on our coach for making this holiday one of the best experiences ever.

Thank you Leger.  See you soon.

"It is difficult to choose a highlight of the tour as each day produced its own highlight, with each place revealing its own piece of magic."

We wanted to visit Italy but weren’t sure where, and this tour gave the ideal way to visit so many different places that if we visited somewhere we really liked, we could always revisit on another holiday and spend more time there.

The tour was quite “full on” but the places we visited certainly made it worthwhile; from the beautiful scenery of Lake Garda, the beauty of Venice, the architecture of Siena and Florence, the history of Rome and the elegance of Capri, to the calmness and relaxed atmosphere of Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands.

It is difficult to choose a highlight of the tour as each day produced its own highlight, with each place revealing its own piece of magic.
The itinerary of the tour was excellent as it included all the places you would want to visit as a first time visitor to Italy. The excursions on offer were all good and the guided tours of Capri, Rome, Pisa and Florence added an extra dimension to the visits by adding detail about the history of the places.

If new to Italy, we would recommend all of the excursions as they all served to make the tour such an enjoyable experience. If anybody was looking to go on this tour, we would advise them they would need to be prepared for some early starts, but the places visited more than made up for this.

There was a very good mix of people and ages on this tour and everybody was friendly.
The Silver Service coach was very clean and comfortable and had a ready supply of hot and cold drinks and snacks. The two drivers Peter and Sandra were exceptional and helped to make the holiday such an enjoyable experience.

We shall definitely be holidaying with Leger again and have already looked at next year’s brochure!

"From the first welcome hand shake from Nana and Leah, to the last cup of coffee brought to my seat, they were both suburb and faultless."

I booked the Picturebook Italy tour as my first Luxuria Grand Explorer with Leger.

As a single traveller the Luxuria coach appeared to offer exactly what I wanted. But I was full of concerns about being a 'singleton' on a coach with 30 strangers and I needed to trust Leger to look after me. How I needed not to have worried at all. Luxuria is what it says on the outside and luxury is what you find on the inside.

What I found was a wide comfortable single reclining seat with calf rest, plenty of personal space, seat back TV screen entertainment with a front view camera feed made even more impressive by having night vision, and a personal plug socket for keeping my camera, mobile phone and ipod fully charged. The bonus of being in the company of other like minded singles and couples as travelling companions, and the standard of refreshments and service provided by the crew, ensured that this was indeed a grand way to tour by coach.

You knew you were on a top quality luxury coach as wherever we went passengers and drivers from other coaches would come over and check us out! And how did Leger improve on this top quality Luxuria coach? They added an extremely professional friendly driver and 'co-pilot'. From the first welcome hand shake from Nana and Leah, to the last cup of coffee brought to my seat, they were both suburb and faultless.

With this Luxuria coach Leger have certainly raised the bar for touring in style. I have already booked future tours with Leger on their Luxuria coach and looking forward to everyone.

"To see and do so much in the 12 days was unbelievable!"

Hats off to Leger, they've done it again. This is the third time we have been away with Leger and they never fail to disappoint us.

We chose the tour 'Picturebook Italy'. We booked on Luxuria for the first time and were not disappointed. We were totally spoilt with the comfort, company and our drivers, Leah and Nana who were most informative on the history of Italy. They looked after our every need during our stay. We stayed overnight in France then continued to our hotel in Lake Garda. Who would've thought that driving through four countries in one day to get there- France, Austria, Germany then Italy. What an experience! And one we will never forget.
We also visited Sirmione, Venice, Sorrento, Pisa, Florence, Siena, Lake Maggoire, the Borromean islands and our favourite Rome which included a visit to the Colleseum, Vatican and the Trevi fountain. The architecture of each building was exquisite and well worth a visit. Each hotel we stayed in was friendly, clean and welcoming.

How does Leger do it? I don't know but it was certainly value for money. To see and do so much in the 12 days was unbelievable! It will be one holiday that we will never ever forget. Thank you Leger from the bottom of our hearts. Roll on a return visit next year.
