"I could have never imagined been so close to these guys who had been my idols for so many years, Vettel, Raikkonen, Alonso, Hamilton, I was so emotional and overcome, it was absolutely fantastic"
"Since I can remember I have had a huge affinity for motor sport. That’s why I was so surprised when I found out I’d be able to witness the on track action first hand at The German Grand Prix.
After making our own way down to Dover, my dad and I joined our tour coach and were greeted with a warm welcome by our coach drivers Gary and John. They were always friendly, funny and on hand to help. They made sure we were supplied with refreshments and entertainment throughout our journey and kept the coach immaculately clean. After witnessing some amazing scenery on our journey we finally reached our hotel and got to bed, ready and excited for the next day, the German Grand Prix Qualifying.
The hotel was lovely, traditionally German but not old fashioned, the rooms were comfortable and cool, which was paramount as the area was experiencing a heat wave which saw temperatures rise to forty degrees and over!
When I woke up on the Saturday I was so excited. We reached the track and I was overwhelmed, never had I seen or heard something so beautiful. The loud V8 engines of the GP2 cars roared all around us as we made our way to our seats.
I had the most amazing day, there is so much more to going to a Grand Prix then just F1, and we even got to see the Porsche Cup, GP2 and GP3. However, nothing could compare to when the Formula One cars came out on track and the crowd roared to life. I could have never imagined being so close to these guys who had been my idols for so many years, Vettel, Raikkonen, Alonso, Hamilton, I was so emotional and overcome, it was absolutely fantastic. After an action packed day of petrol and pole positions we headed back to our hotel.
RACE DAY! I couldn’t believe it, I was actually going to be at a Formula 1 Grand Prix... As soon as we reached the track we headed straight for our seats, as I did not want to miss a thing.
Before I knew it, it was lights out and I was at the edge of my seat, quite literally, watching as Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso battled for 5th place right before my eyes.
The atmosphere at the circuit was amazing. For any Formula 1 fan out there who hasn’t yet been to a race, I would urge you to go, as watching it in person is so much more thrilling than watching it on your TV screen. I could honestly say that it was one of the most, if not the most, fantastic experiences of my life. None of it would have been possible without Leger's excellent organisation, so the next time I make my way to a circuit, I will be sure to go with Leger.
