Booked on Silver Express on 19th May.

Anyone been on this trip, and comments would be appreciated.

What denominations of monies should we take?  Euros for Vienna, but what about Prague and Hungary?

Many thanks

Hi Lin

I have just had a word with our product department and received the following reply, hope it helps:-

"You will need Euro's for the overnight stays in Belgium and whilst traveling through Germany. Euro's for Vienna part of tour, Czech Koruna (Crowns) for Prague and Hungarian (Forint) for Budapest stay.

Probably best to check with bank as to purchasing of currency prior to UK departure (or whether it is better to buy local currency in resort/at hotel).

Dinners and breakfasts are included in Prague and Budapest, so basically you will only need money for lunches, optional excursions and any additional spends."

If you require any further info then please let us know and have a great time on holiday...

Best regards

Michael

I did the trip last year on the executive coach. Only really needed money for the optional excursions (some are included on SS), lunch, drinks and presents.

Prague and Vienna can be quite expensive, so it depends on what kind of taste you have!!  I think I took about £500 worth of currency altogether.

There are large amounts of Florints to the £, so try and take low denomination notes as some places might not have enough change.

If you go into Bratislava, then you may just get away with using Euro's, (You have to ask first) but any of the "larger" places ie Supermarket, McDonalds you would have to pay in Slovakian currency.  If I remember rightly, there is a FREE toilet in McDonalds in Bratislava - you may have to drop a coin or two in the direction of a cleaner/attendant everywhere else.  That goes for the Czech Republic and Hungary too. Always expect to pay to use the toilet everywhere you go!

I was booked to go on this trip on 19th May, but was rushed into hospital on 17th May, and could not go!  I was absolutely gutted - especially as I learnt that the weather was fabulous!

Hoping to do the holiday at a later date, but would appreciate any feedback.

Many thanks

Lin.

I am going on the single travellers trip on October 4th 08 to these destinations. My friend Les is also coming. He will be celebrating his birthday on the second day so we hope to be having drinks that evening with new found friends. He is coming up by train from Plymouth a few days before and our departure will be from Folkestone where I live. Anyone out there coming on this holiday on that date? Would love to make contact before we go! Happy Holidays, May A.
