There was so much snow, I went in February 2006 and had a fantastic time. Zell am See was wonderful, the lake was frozen over so myself and a few others from the tour went Ice Skating. As a single traveller I made many friends on the tour including two girls orginally from China, who I still keep in touch with. The people at the hotel were so friendly and made me feel welcome. Salzburg is great you really must get the funicular up to the fortress and see the fantastic views of the city. Kitzbuhel is a wonderful ski resort and the highlight of my trip was the horse and carriage ride through the village, just like something out of a film.Wed, 06 Dec 2006 14:58:35 GMTGlobetrotter Sarahhttp://www.leger.co.uk/forum/Topic24-29-1.aspxThis was one of those WOW factor holidays. I never imagined that snow could be so enchanting or that I would every pay to go and see some! There was snow everywhere and do you know what, everything kept moving! No cars grinding to a standstill, no kids off school even old people still doing their shopping! The snow looks whiter and crisper than over here and it was very cold. A sturdy pair of walking boots is a must and lots of layers of clothing. We went on all the excursions. The trip up the ski slop at Kitzbuhel was terrifying yet well worth it. The view and the sun at the top takes your breath away. The lake was frozen over at Zell Am See and we could walk on it or skate if brave enough. We did the train ride along the Ziller Valley followed by the horse & carriage ride through the woods. This is something I will never forget but you do need to wrap up very warm as you are sitting for about 45 minutes & it is freezing. The trip around Salzburg came to life with our guide "Maria." It snowed all day and it was great to see the Austrians in their long capes and the hats with the feathers in them. At the end of the day the hotel was very warm & welcoming and our faces would be glowing. I came home feeling fitter and enjoyed every minute of this holiday.Sat, 02 Dec 2006 15:12:46 GMTGlobetrotter
