I am booked onto the Lake Como coach tour for September and will be staying at the Hotel Excelsior Splendide. There are some bad reviews of the hotel online - has anyone been there and could they give a review here?

Is it air conditioned or not?

Is it clean (someone mentioned bed bugs!:w00t

Is the swimming pool OK and it is likely to be heated in September?

Do you recommend any trips or can places be accessed via local transport? (I like to visit gardens.)

Did you go to Milan via the railway?

Thankyou.

(I am an OAP travelling alone.)

I have just returned from the Lake Como trip and stayed at the Hotel Bazzoni. The hotel is very good with amazing views over the lake. Request a room with a lake view.

There is a nice pool and plenty of space for sun bathing.

Meals are taken in the restaurant but if you ask to go onto the terrace you can sit outside and enjoy the wonderful views.

The food is good with a very good salad buffet to begin with. The hotel is clean and has nice fluffy bath towels. all the staff are very nice and obliging.

The trips offered are good value for money and there are some beautiful gardens to see if you go on the trips to the villas.

Milan was very hot and crowded and not my cup of tea but loved the ride on the Bernina express which lasted about 2 hours.

All in all a very good value for money holiday.

Happy Travelling!
