Aberdeen Country Fair

When: Feb 2008 (various dates)

Where: Academy Shopping Centre

Opening Hours: 9am-5pm

Head down to Aberdeen's Belmont St and the Academy Shopping Centre for this monthly street market, where around 20,000 punters come to feast their eyes on local produce, delicacies and goodies. The market comprises 30-35 stalls made up of farm produce (Aberdeen Angus, Scottish Lamb and Pork, locally-grown vegetables & fruit and dairy products), home baking, fish, liqueurs, confectionery, local ice cream, Scottish wines, jams & preserves, and locally-produced crafts.

Edinburgh International Science Festival

When: 25 Mar - 5 Apr 2008 (annual)

Where: Edinburgh

Cost: Free-£7

Opening Hours: 9.30am-8pm

The Edinburgh International Science Festival attracts around 175,000 visitors for a variety of hands-on activities, workshops and shows for children, demonstrations, exhibitions, talks and tours, offering more than 200 events in 20 venues throughout the city.

Glasgow Fireworks Night

When: Nov 2008 (annual)

Where: Glasgow Green

Cost: Free

Opening Hours: Funfair 5pm-10pm; fireworks 7.30pm

Every year Glasgow celebrates Bonfire Night with a spectacular show including fireworks, lasers, live bands and a funfair on Glasgow Green. Throughout the evening, a huge programme of attractions, bands, music, entertainment and fun is in store, with the city's famous Winter Gardens as the backdrop.
