Norway - Events

Thinking of taking a trip to Norway and want to know what my be going on while you're there?
Here are some events that will be taking place throughout the year...

Norwegian National Day

When: 17 May 2008 (annual)

Where: Norway

Cost: Free

Opening Hours: Various

See a whole country go mad! The 17 May celebrations in Norway are bigger than Christmas, bigger than Easter, bigger than the Beatles.... For the uninitiated, this celebration can seem like a complete lapse of reason on a national level.

Florø Festival

When: Jun 2008 (annual)

Where: Florø

Cost: Free

Opening Hours: Various

Once a year, the western town of Florø's four-day festival offers a packed programme of cultural events. The highlight for many greedy souls is the "herring table"...offering hours of gorging on this Scandinavian favourite. During the festival, the main street of Florø houses one of the longest tables in the world, offering herring dishes of various descriptions (last year around 10,000 visitors were served). Packed with protein and goodness, they are extremely filling too, so you'd do well to pace yourself. Meanwhile a raft of cultural events take over the town - largely musical in flavour.
