- AAA
- "AAA" is a level of conformance to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. There are 3 levels of conformance, "A" being the minimum conformance level and "AAA" being the highest. Conformance to these Guidelines help make the Web more accessible to users with disabilities and will benefit all users.
- Accessibility
- Accessibility is a general term used to describe the degree to which a system/website is usable by as many people as possible without modification. Specific focus is placed on users with alternate devices and disabilities.
- ABTA
- ABTA - The Association of British Travel Agents. All holidays which do not include any flights are operated by Leger Holidays Limited which is a member of and bonded with the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA V3582)
- ATOL
- ATOL - Air Travel Organiser's Licence. Total Financial Protection for Air Holidays. All holidays which include any flights are operated by Leger Air Holidays Limited which holds an Air Travel Organisers' Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL 3880).
- Browser
- A program that lets users display and navigate pages on the internet, such as Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer
- CAA
- Civil Aviation Authority. The national body governing civil aviation.
- Certificate
- An encrypted file containing user or server identification information, which is used to verify identity and to help establish a security-enhanced link.
- CSS
- CSS - Cascading Style Sheets is a stylesheet language used to describe the presentation of a document written in a markup language, such as xhtml.
- Encryption
- The process of obscuring information to make it unreadable by an unauthorized party, without special knowledge.
- FireFox
- Firefox is a free, cross-platform, graphical web browser developed by the Mozilla Foundation and hundreds of volunteers.
- FCO
- Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
- Javascript
- A programming language that is used to make web pages more interactive.
- MAC
- A personal computer designed and sold by Apple.
- PC
- Personal computer. A computer that usually runs a Windows Operating system.
- Padlock
- A symbol in a web browser that indicates that an encrypted (SSL) connection is being used to communicate with a site that has a valid certificate
- SSL
- SSL - Secure Sockets Layer. Secure Sockets Layer provides a secure communication on the Internet for e commerce.
- Spyware
- Unwanted software that secretly monitors a user's activity, scans for private information or gives outsiders control of a computer.
- TGV
- Train à Grande Vitesse - The French high speed rail service.
- VeriSign
- VeriSign provides Internet security services to enterprises, small businesses and individuals.
- W3C
- The World Wide Web Consortium - An international consortium where members develop specifications, guidelines, software, and tools to ensure long-term growth for the Web.
- WCAG
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines - are a set of guidelines on making content accessible, primarily for disabled users, but also for all user agents, included highly limited devices, such as mobile phones
- XHTML
- XHTML - eXtensible HyperText Markup Language, or XHTML, is a markup language that has the same expressive possibilities as HTML, but a stricter syntax.
