"We continue to spend Christmas away with Leger. Joining the tour at Ashford North, the coach crew prepared us for a smooth changeover at Dover. Anthea checked us on board. The coach was superbly decorated and we were truly in Christmas mood. Many of us agreed that we had the best decorated coach.

Paul and Anthea made this tour to a part of the former East Germany really enjoyable. The Maritim Hotel Halle caters to a high standard in all areas. Food was very good with a plentiful and varied choice. The staff were friendly and courteous.
On arrival the hotel manager welcomed and thanked us for spending Christmas with them. A gift wrapped plate of Christmas fayre awaited us in our room.

On Christmas day, prior to the afternoon tea dance, the manager made presentations to two of our group celebrating significant birthdays. A nice touch – and the kind thoughts continued.

On boarding the coach on Boxing Day, for Leipzig, a Christmas card with a gift boxed chocolate from our crew awaited us with a mince pie for the return journey later. During the guided walk of Halle we saw the birthplace of Handel and also the towns preserved historical buildings. This was really valuable as we learned much more of interest about the town.

The tour of the Halloren Chocolate factory was heaven for the chocoholics amongst us! We loved Leipzig – although the city centre was just coming to life on Boxing Day we sensed a lovely atmosphere everywhere. We had great coffee and cake in our arcade café. Outside an accordion busker played. The music echoed throughout the classic shopping centre. The whole area was decorated in lights. It all seemed so good – a great memory – and so glad we went on this optional excursion.

We are glad we took advice to visit Leipzig Railway Station. It is Europe’s largest and kept spotless. There is also a great underground shopping centre. All areas were seasonally lit and decorated.

On Silver Service we appreciate the extra legroom and the opportunity to have a relaxing break in the lounge and with the on-board media the miles fly by. Paul and Anthea made hot drinks as required, planned frequent suitable breaks and kept us informed at all times. We appreciated their hard work throughout.

Have we booked for next Christmas – yes!
