Cambrai Battlefield

Visit: Cambrai Battlefield, Battlefields

The Battle of Cambrai was the first major use of tanks in the Great War when more than 400 Mark IV tanks broke the Hindenburg Line in November 1917. On this centenary of the true birth of tank warfare we visit the battlefields around Cambrai.

Regional departure by coach, then onwards to northern France and our hotel for a four-night stay.

We will attend any major commemorations in the Cambrai area on 20th November and during our battlefield tour look at the Cambrai Memorial at Louverval, discover the story of the Boy General at Hermies, see where the heavy fighting took place along the Canal du Nord and Bourlon Wood, and follow where the tanks attacked between Havrincourt and Flesquieres. We will also visit the city of Cambrai itself on this tour.
