Your Holiday Itinerary

7-Day Break

  • Day 1 - Local departure then onwards to Belgium for an overnight stay.
  • Day 2 - Cologne & the Rhine Valley (included); River Rhine Cruise (optional) The city of Cologne with its splendid Gothic cathedral and twin spires is on our route south. After some free time we continue along the Rhine Valley with the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing cruise along the river to enjoy the sedate scenery of the vineyards and castles that adorn the Valley. We continue to the Mannheim area for our
    overnight stay. B,D
  • Day 3 - Heidelberg (included); Heidelberg Sightseeing (optional). A morning visit to the picturesque town of Heidelberg which lies on the River Neckar and is famed for its university, which dates back to 1386, its castle and Old Town-the ‘Altstadt’. Join our optional sightseeing tour with local guide. In the afternoon we head south to our accommodation in the Oberammergau area with time to relax ahead of tomorrow’s spectacle. B,D
  • Day 4 - Oberammergau and the Passion Play (included). Enjoy a relaxing morning in the environs of Oberammergau. Lunch is taken at noon before the start of the Passion Play at 2.30pm. After a break for dinner between 5pm and 8pm, the play  ends at 10.30pm. Transfer back to your accommodation. B,D
  • Day 5 - Innsbruck and the Tyrol (included). En route to our hotel we call into the Tyrolean ‘capital’ – Innsbruck. Surrounded by steep mountains, the city’s location is most impressive. Perhaps the most notable landmark is the Golden Roof from where the Emperor Maximilian 1 used to watch the events in the square below. We continue to our hotel in Kirchberg, Austria for a three-night stay. B,L,D
  • Day 6 - Salzburg (included); Guided Walking Tour (optional). Join our excursion to the ‘Sound of Music’ City, Salzburg. En route we make a stop at Hellbrunn Palace famed for its special fountains and historic gardens set against the spectacular backdrop of the Alps. In Salzburg you can enjoy free time to explore the quaint narrow shopping lanes and lovely squares and perhaps sample a strudel and coffee in one of the many pavement cafés. Our optional guided walking tour is also a wonderful way to discover sights and sounds that have made this delightful city so famous. B,D
  • Day 7 - Lake Achensee and Lake Cruise (optional) Rack and Pinion Railway Ride (optional). Join our scenic excursion along the Alpenstrasse to Lake Achensee, the largest lake in the Tyrol. Here you have some free time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Enjoy a cruise on the lake to take in the picturesque views. As we return to our hotel you have the choice to travel by coach, or for part of the way, ride on the Rack and Pinion railway from Seespitz to Jenbach which offers stunning views along the way. B,D
  • Day 8 - To Belgium for overnight stay. B
  • Day 9 - To Calais, then return home. B
