Classical Greece – Delphi, Athens, Mycenae & Olympia - 16 days from £1549

Your Holiday Itinerary

16-Day Break

  • Day 1 – Departure by coach then onwards to northern France for an overnight stay
  • Day 2 – Continue south through France and into Italy to the Lake Como/Milan area for an overnight stay. B,D
  • Day 3 – We head across Italy to the port of Ancona for the overnight ferry to Igoumenitsa in Greece. B,
  • Day 4 – Meteora (included). Morning arrival at Igoumenitsa then we follow the scenic road to Ioannina for a short stop at this beautiful town with its impressive lake. Continue onward to Meteora, possibly one the most impressive sites in Greece. Meteora, (literally meaning ‘hanging from the sky’) are gigantic rock formations in a scenic setting. On top of these rocks hide stunning monasteries. We will meet with our local guide and visit at least two of the monasteries. Overnight in Kalambaka. D
  • Day 5Delphi (included). Head south, through the mountains of central Greece towards Delphi, located on the side of Mount Parnassos. We will meet with our local guide and will be visiting the site and the museum. Later we continue via the picturesque village of Arachova, to Athens for a three-night stay. B,D
  • Day 6 – Athens with Guided Tour (included). We take a panoramic guided tour of Athens, seeing the House of Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Constitution Square and the Presidential Palace. We will also be visiting the Acropolis (please note that the museum of Acropolis is temporarily closed). Our morning tour will continue with a short walk in the famous Plaka area, where we will enjoy a lunch at a typical Greek tavern. In the afternoon, you can take an optional tour along the coastal road of Attica to Cape Sounion, for a guided visit to the temple of Poseidon. B,L
  • Day 7 – Saronic Islands (optional). Time at leisure to explore Athens at your own pace. Alternatively, join our optional magnificent day cruise to explore the nearby Saronic Islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra. Enjoy lunch on board ship before a late afternoon arrival return to Piraeus and transfer to Athens. This evening, you can enjoy an optional dinner at a typical Greek restaurant with live music and folk-dance show. B
  • Day 8 – Corinth Canal, Epidaurus and Nafplion (included). Leaving Athens we drive along the coastal road towards the Corinth Canal. Enjoy a short stop for photos at this magnificent feat of engineering, then continue to Epidaurus. We meet with our guide and enjoy a guided visit to the magnificent amphitheatre of Epidaurus, famous for its acoustics. Our day continues to Nafplion (the first capital of modern Greece). Free time to explore one of the most beautiful towns of the Peloponnese. We continue to the nearby resort village of Tolo for a four night stay. B,D
  • Day 9 – Corinth and Nemea (optional). A free day today for you to relax and enjoy the sun and the sea. Alternatively, you can join an optional excursion to ancient Corinth, and to the nearby Nemea region, famous for its wine production, where you will have the chance for winetasting. B,D
  • Days 10 and 11 – At leisure for you to relax and enjoy your surroundings. 2x B, 2x D
  • Day 12 – Mycenae (included). We drive towards Mycenae to meet our guide for a visit to the site of Mycenae with the famous Lion’s Gate and Agamemnon’s Tomb. We continue our drive via Tripolis and Megalopolis and arrive at Olympia for an overnight stay B,D
  • Day 13 – Olympia (included). We begin our day at the home of the first Olympic games. Meet with our local guide and visit the site of ancient Olympia and of course the outstanding museum. continue to Patras for the overnight ferry to Ancona, Italy (en-suite cabins included). B
  • Day 14 – We disembark in Ancona and head north to the Lake Garda region for an overnight stay. D
  • Day 15 – Travel through Austria and Germany to later reach Belgium and our overnight hotel. B
  • Day 16 – Travel to Calais, then return home. B
