8-Day Break
- Day 1 – Fly to Alicante, where you will be met and transferred to Benidorm and your hotel for a seven-night stay.
- Day 2 to 7 – Meet with your tour manager and the rest of the group. During your stay you can relax in resort and join our carefully chosen programme of included and optional excursions. 6xB,D
Included Excursions
- Altea. Enjoy included excursion to Altea, rightly regarded as one of the most charming towns on Spain’s ‘White Coast’. Altea provides a real contrast to Benidorm, with its medieval cobbled streets, pretty old-quarter and delightful palm-lined esplanade. The church of Altea, with its magnificent dome of blue and white glazed tiles is the focal point of the town, a symbolic image of the Costa Blanca, and
the resort remains a favourite with musicians, artists and writers, enchanted by its bohemian atmosphere. Tuesday is market day, one of the largest of its kind on the Costa Blanca.
- Guadalest. Discover one of the most visited jewels of the Costa Blanca on our excursion to the 8th century Moorish village of Guadalest. Following winding roads, lined with the citrus groves of the
Sierra Aitana Mountains, we reach this magnificently situated village overlooking the Guadalest reservoir. Explore the Old Quarter, which is only accessible by foot. Pass through the rock tunnel to see the ruins of San Jose Castle and church and admire the spectacular views over the lake from the famous Belltower, which clings to the rock face.
- Alicante. A city with a true Spanish flavour, Alicante stands proudly, overlooking the Mediterranean. Principal city of the Costa Blanca, Alicante boasts amongst its influences, Greeks and Romans who both settled here. The focus of the city is the Esplanade de Espana, a palm-lined promenade along the
waterfront and harbour area. Spend time shopping in the Old Town.
Optional Excursions
- Cartagena. A full day excursion, as we head to Cartagena, whose natural harbour attracted its first settlers, the Carthaginians in 223BC. The city was later conquered by the Romans and the rich legacy of
Cartagena stretches along the shores of its marina. For a superb view of the city, visit Torres Park and the Castillo de la Concepción. Standing on a hill, it has been a fortress of Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and Castilians.
