A new tour based in the picturesque Belgian Ardennes, with a steam rail journey through the rolling countryside and a cruise on the winding River Meuse.

Your Holiday Itinerary

4-Day Break

  • Day 1 –  Local departure by coach then onwards to Belgium and our hotel in Namur for three nights.
  • Day 2 – Three Valleys Railway and Museum and Fagnes Brewery (included). Today we visit the small town of Mariembourg in the Ardennes, from where we take the steam-hauled train on the Three Valleys Railway to Treignes, passing through the beautifully restored station in the village of Olloy Sur Viroin en route. In Treignes, we include a visit to the railway museum, before we return to Mariembourg. We also include a visit to the Fagnes Brewery and discover the art of brewing!  B
  • Day 3 – Dinant and River Cruise (included); Castle of Celles-Veves (optional). We travel to the beautiful town of Dinant, picturesquely situated on the River Meuse and dominated by the Citadel that sits high above the town and also the stunning onion-shaped dome of the Cathedral. We take a cruise on the river to Anseremme and back through breathtaking scenery. Spend further time in Dinant or join our optional afternoon tour through the lovely Ardennes countryside to the Castle of Celles-Veves, a magnificent feudal fortress, still inhabited and fully furnished. Here you can see what life was like in the Middle Ages. B
  • Day 4 – We leave Namur and return to Calais and home. B
